  1. If you move a lot of heavy items, you owe it to yourself to do this conversion!

    Overall Rating

I am an arcade game collector, who has the need to move games around from time to time, even to events, and I'm not 25 anymore. Sometimes it can be a 3/4 mile walk from the dock to the event space, and each game has to travel that distance on a hand truck.

Assembly: I started with a second-hand 20+ year old Magliner. I started by also obtaining a new pair of Magliner wheels to replace the old ones that were about worn out.
Assembly was fairly straightforward. Follow the directions and you won't have any problems. Important: When dealing with fasteners, "Start them all before tightening any!". You will need the whole assembly to have a bit of play in it in order to make all of your holes line up, especially when installing the supports.
I love how this brand new kit fit on my decades old Magliner frame perfectly!

Now that it is assembled with everything tightened, I find that it is easy to use. The kickstand is very handy for loading boxes and other items. There is a bit of a learning curve if you are accustomed to standard hand trucks. Tilt-back is a lot easier, but you MUST put your foot on the upper axle, not on the kickstand. The pivot point is further back, so you need to learn how to "drive" the load. Rolling resistance is nonexistent - Magliner wheels have much better bearings than the ones you find in your local stores, and that makes a difference when you are moving something heavy.

The best points so far for me:
-Lower pull-back resistance - less strain on your back while tilting back a heavy load
-Zero support effort for heavy loads - just 'drive' it. You're not having to balance the weight and maneuver at the same time.
-Much easier to clear over door sills and curbs. Tilt back, up and over you go.

The only cons I can think of is that you do have to have some basic mechanical skills to do the conversion (or assembly). Things fit a certain way and have to be done in the correct order, and there is a little bit of a learning curve on how to use and maneuver the SS truck if you are accustomed to standard hand trucks.

Is this a worthwhile purchase to enhance your old Magliner hand truck? Yes!
    Am I satisfied? Absolutely!
I am excited at the prospect of much less fatigue when moving arcade games to and from events. That long walk from the dock to the space should be a whole lot easier!
